1) Kansas City Chiefs - Ndamukong Suh, DT/NT, Nebraska Highly unlikely pick, right? On the surface, yes. However, Suh is the most dominant DT in the nation, capable of playing the NT spot for this team. If this pick doesn't get traded away for the rights to the top signal caller, beware. |
2) St. Louis Rams - *Jevan Snead, QB, Ole Miss The Rams made a good choice by drafting a new franchise LT in Jason Smith. So, that's one position they don't need to address here. However, I predict that Bulger has another bad year and the Rams start looking for new leadership. |
3) Oakland Raiders - Taylor Mays, FS/SS, USC Every year, I assume the Raiders will "get straight" and use their first-Rounder on a guy that proves out on film and isn't just a freak of an athlete. Every year, I end up being wrong. Will Mays break the trend? |
4) Detroit Lions - Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma The Lions did well in the 2009 draft, but they failed to address the LT position. With the amount of money they threw at Stafford, it will make sense for them to protect their new, costly investment. |
5) Cleveland Browns - *Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida Ay 6'6 285+lbs., Dunlap has the size and tha bility to play DE in a 3-4. This kid has long arms and is very tough to run outside of. If the Browns are drafting this high, I doubt their D-Line did its job. |
6) Seattle Seahawks (Denver) - *Eric Berry, SS, Tennessee Berry may be the best Defensive player in the nation. This is a lights-out kid that can hit and cover tremendously well. The Seahawks don't have a Safety that comes close to him as far as talent goes. |
7) Cincinnati Bengals - *Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois The Bengals are far from being okay at the WR position. While this team has always raised question marks around their defensive play, the Offense hums when Palmer is healthy. Benn is a stud that could keep things going for them. |
8) Seattle Seahawks - *Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma If they do end up picking here, then it's hard to imagine that Hasselback had a good enough year to keep him safe within the Seahawks' witness protection program. Sanchez was a heavy consideration in 2009 for a reason. |
9) New York Jets - *Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State Cotchery was the Jets' leading WR in 2008, but he barely edged out Coles to get that distinction. Do the Jets have a WR on their roster that can fill the void left by Coles? I doubt it, which is why a WR may be the pick here. |
10) Buffalo Bills - Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State The Bills traded Peters to the Eagles, moved Langston Walker over to LT, and are hoping that Demetrius Bell can hold down the RT spot. While there's a chance this works out, I'm not betting on it. |
11) Green Bay Packers - Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma We'll have to see how well Chad Clifton holds up. If there are signs of trouble there, don't rule out an OT here. For now, I think the 'Pack would take the best player on the board. Gresham is the best TE in the nation. |
12) Jacksonville Jaguars - Tim Tebow, QB, Florida I don't see David Garrad as the long-term play for this team, so a QB is a distinct possibility. Say what you want about Tebow's throwing motion and limited time taking snaps from underneath the Center... He's a leader. |
13) New Orleans Saints - *Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma The production of DEs Will Smith and Charles Grant fell off last season, so a DE is a possibility here. At the same token, the Saints are lacking when it comes to depth at DT. McCoy will have a great season, and may be too good to pass on. |
14) San Francisco 49ers - Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida Is an ILB this team's biggest need? It isn't. However, Spikes is an absolute machine at the position and would pair nicely with Willis. Takeo Spikes and Jeff Ulbrich are both 32 years old now, so it's time to look ahead. |
15) Washington Redskins - Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss Landing Haynesworth was a big move for the Redskins, but their D-Line hasn't been completely shored up. DE is a concern as Daniels is set to retire soon, and Carter's play isn't waht it once was. When at 100%, Hardy is exceptional. |
16) Minnesota Vikings - Colt McCoy, QB, Texas The Vikings may not make it past this point in the draft because of mediocre play at the QB spot. With all the talk about Brett Favre, you know they need an upgrade. |
17) San Diego Chargers - Arthur Jones, DT/DE, Syracuse While Jones plays at the DT spot in a 4-3 alignment, he's talented enough to slide down to DE in a 3-4. At 6'4 290lbs., he has nice size for the position and plays with amazing strength. Watch the 2008 Notre Dame game tape. |
18) Miami Dolphins - Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama Many don't see Cody falling this far, but one has to remember that he's not an every down player and really only fits a team that operates out of a 3-4 scheme. Miami needs a new NT to replace the aging Ferguson. |
19) Tampa Bay Bucs - *Joe Haden, CB, Florida It's really easy to like Ronde Barber, but the guy is now 34 years-old and it's starting to show. The Bucs need to start planning for the future now, as Barber could/should retire after the end of this season. |
20) Denver Broncos (Chicago) - Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama The Broncos simply don't have enough talent at the LB position to pull off their new 3-4 scheme. McClain is an awesome-sized LB at 6'4 250lbs. and has the talent to play at any spot in a 3-4. |
21) San Francisco 49ers (Carolina) - Ciron Black, OT, LSU The 49ers need to address their O-Line, with the greatest need sitting at the RT position. While one could argue that Black may not have the feet to play at LT, he certainly has the makings to fill the void where needed. |
22) Arizona Cardinals - Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas Kindle has seen his stock drop as of late because of some off-field issues. However, I don't see this kid falling out of Round 1. Berry and Okeafor are both 33 years-old, so the Cards' need to grab more pass-rushing OLB talent now. |
23) Dallas Cowboys - Brandon Lafell, WR, LSU While T.O. was a constant headache for the Cowboys, the guy did produce. Crayton and Austin are talented, but I don't think the WR position is completely shored up. Lafell would make sense here. |
24) New England Patriots - *Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa Matt Light is no longer the LT he once was. The Patriots have been smart in adding talent along their O-Line, and I see them taking another step in that direction here. Bulaga is a very good prospect. |
25) Houston Texans - Corey Wooton, DE, Northwestern The Texans dished out the money for Antonio Smith, but he's never produced more than 5.5 Sacks in any season. At 6'7 265+lbs., Wooton is a rangy DE that knows how to create havoc in a backfield. |
26) Philadelphia Eagles - *Everson Griffen, DE, USC If Griffen plays to his full potential this season, he may not drop here. He's one of if not the best prospect to come out of the state of Arizona in the past 10 years. DE is not a need, but he's too gifted to pass on. |
27) Indianapolis Colts - Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri Weatherspoon is poised to have a banner 2009 season. Blessed with amazing quickness and good size for the position, the Colts would get a gift here. He could challenge for a starting spot right out of the gate. |
28) Tennessee Titans - George Selvie, DE, South Florida The Titans added Jovan Haye to the squad and drafted Marks in the 2009 draft. But, I don't think the rebuild along the D-Line is complete. Kearse is another year older and Vanden Bosch's production has slipped. |
29) Atlanta Falcons - *Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina The Falcons gave up 125+ rushing yards per game in 2008, so they added Peria Jerry to the mix. Even with this addition, I think they'd like to add more help at the position. Austin is a man-child that could be a rotation guy Day 1. |
30) Pittsburgh Steelers - *Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers With no glaring holes at any one position, the Steelers could add some very good depth here by selecting Anthony Davis. This is a talented O-Lineman that can play at Ot or OG. |
31) Baltimore Ravens - Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama The CB position is one where the Ravens continue to add talent in the hopes that they can make something stick. While Arenas is not only a legit CB, the guy has crazy kick return skills. |
32) New York Giants - Trevard Lindley, CB, Kentucky The Giants are flat out loaded and don't have any glaring needs. So, they can add a solid CB to their mix and take the needed time to develop him. Lindley lacks ideal speed, but the boy can cover. |
